Kwande Capital
Kwande Capital is a black-owned and managed quasi investment holding company established in 2010, with a strong focus on the energy, oil and gas sectors. From inception, Kwande Capital has built its strategy around creating a core portfolio of energy-focused assets that deliver reliable, value-adding energy solutions to industrial customers across South Africa. Today, the company holds investments in oil and gas, industrial manufacturing and related infrastructure, positioning it as a meaningful player in South Africa’s evolving energy landscape.
Since 2010, Kwande Capital has raised capital on a deal-by-deal basis, securing approximately R3.8 billion from commercial banks, private equity firms, family offices and private investors. The company is currently the largest single shareholder in Kwande Energy, holding roughly 50 percent. Through Kwande Energy, Kwande Capital has indirect ownership of SLG, the second largest piped-gas trading business, and 35 percent of Masana, a major petroleum products trading company.”
Beyond this, Kwande Capital directly owns 100 percent of Kwande Gas, a natural gas import and trading business licensed to bring gas from Mozambique into South Africa. It also owns 60 percent of Isanti Glass, a significant player in the glass-packaging manufacturing sector. Additionally, Kwande Capital holds 100 percent of Kwande Advisory, the management company responsible for driving the wider group’s operations and strategic execution.
With its strong investment pipeline, Kwande Capital continues to allocate capital to high-value opportunities in energy, oil and gas and related infrastructure. The company’s long-term vision includes building an integrated portfolio capable to achieve security and sustainable manufacturing industries in Southern Africa. Low private-equity penetration in these sectors presents attractive opportunities, and Kwande Capital benefits from an investment team with extensive domain expertise and a deep understanding of the sector’s dynamics.
As a black-owned and managed firm with significant empowerment credentials, Kwande Capital also provides substantial BEE value to the companies it partners with, improving their transformation scores and strengthening their competitive positioning.
